What's your "Moab"?

During the Womens' Bible Study on Saturday, we studied the first chapter of the Book of Ruth.

It tells of how Naomi's husband moved their whole family to Moab because there was a famine at Israel and there wasn't any food. The consequence was that her husband and both her sons passed away there after some time and Naomi was left with her two daughter-in-laws, both of whom she urged to go back to their families and rebuild their lives again.

Ruth, one of Naomi's daughter-in-law decided to stay with her. When Naomi heard that the Lord is providing food for His people in Israel, she wanted to moved back home. Ruth went with her.

The summary of this chapter is meant to teach us that we should run to Jesus when things get tough. Running away from Him in times of trouble doesn't bring any good consequences Ie. Naomi was left without both her husband and sons. They should have stayed in Israel and waited patiently and faithfully for God to provide for them instead of moving to where Gods' enemy live which is Moab.

Everyone has a "Moab" in their lives- these are things we run to in substitute of God in times of trouble; more often than not out of distrust of God's ability to help us out.
